7 Tips for Ordering Online Groceries

This month we launched our online grocery service — Stauffers Online. We’re excited to give our customers the opportunity to shop online for groceries and pick up their completed order in their store. To get the most out of your online shopping experience, we offer these tips for successful shopping.
1. Utilize Previous Shopping Lists
Are there staples that you purchase during every trip to the store? Are there other household items you purchase on a monthly basis? You can create and save multiple lists on our online grocery site and then easily move the items to your online order as needed. This will save you the time of searching out the same yogurt, granola bars, orange juice, or loaf of bread each and every time you shop.
2. Be Specific with Shopping Notes
Ordering your groceries online may give you pause if you’re a picky shopper. But you don’t have to worry. When you shop online for groceries, you have the ability to add notes for each item you add to your order. Do you want your avocados as ripe as possible so you can use them immediately? Do you like your deli meat sliced thin or medium? Would you prefer greener bananas, smaller apples, or thinner asparagus?
When you add more notes to your order, your personal shopper has the best chance of making your order as perfect as possible.
3. You Can Earn Rewards
When you set-up an online shopping account, remember to also register your Stauffers Signature Rewards ID. You will continue to accumulate grocery rewards with online orders just as you do in the store. However, you will not be able to redeem your rewards with an online purchase. This will still need to be done during an in-store purchase.
4. Take Advantage of Weekly Savings
When you use our online grocery service, you can take advantage of all our weekly sales and advertised prices. Sale items will be marked with a red banner in the upper right corner. For “Buy One Get One Free” specials, the items will be marked at half the retail price. As an example, an item that retails for $4 would be marked as $2 during a “BOGOF” sale.
The only special offers that are not available on the online platform are our “Buy & Save” and “Must Buy” offers (e.g., “Buy 10 items, get $10 off” or “5 for $10, must buy 5”).
5. Plan Ahead (Or Wait Until the Last Minute)
Ordering your groceries online is a time-saver, no matter if you’re someone who always plans ahead or someone who scrambles at the last minute. With our online platform, you can place an order up to five days prior to your desired pick-up date, which is perfect if your planning ahead for a big meal or event. You also have the ability to place your order and pick it up the same day. Just click the stopwatch when you’re placing an order and you’ll see the earliest available pick-up time.
6. Try Something New
When you’re rushing through aisles of your grocery store, you’re almost always focused on grabbing the products and brands that you know and love. You might not notice new products on the shelves. But in the comfort of your home, when you have a little more time to browse, you might find yourself looking at new offerings. Take this opportunity to try a new product, a new flavor, or a new brand each time you place an order.
7. Friendly Reminder: Coupons Cannot be Applied
Unfortunately, you’re not able to apply coupons to your online groceries. If you are a coupon shopper, you’ll need to make your purchases in one of our retail stores.
